Day 4393: Albida Dharmendra!

Sholay was the first Hindi film I remember watching when I was a wee kid even though I didn't fully understand it, and somehow Dharmendra stayed with me more than anyone else. I don’t have many specific memories of his other films, yet I’ve always connected him with Bollywood itself. When his name comes up, Bollywood becomes louder for me.

Hearing of his passing feels surreal — a mix of sadness and nostalgia, as if a small part of Bollywood, and of me, left with him.

Rest in peace, Gentle Giant of Bollywood!

The 1st ever International Academic Conference on Newah Cultural Heritage (NACCH 2025) is happening on 6 (Online), 13 & 14 September 2025 in London.

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, organised by PASA PUCHAH GUTHI, UK - (London), in collaboration with Khanlha Banhlaa and, SOAS University of London, and Heritage as Placemaking (HaP), the conference will bring together 30 Academic papers, 36 Presenters for 3 days from 18 Participating countries together with scholars, researchers, cultural activists, and community leaders from Nepal, the UK, and beyond, with the theme “Continuity and Change in Newah Culture and Heritage,” the event will have paper presentations, discussions, exhibitions, and performances.

Day 4302: Ambassador Cup - Winners!

I remember the time when Pasa Puchah Guthi joined the Nepali Mela about 14/15 years ago, it was just my family of four representing Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK.

Fast forward to this year’s 16th Nepali Mela – we proudly stood with over 100 participants, filling the grounds with the sounds, and energy of our Newah heritage - With Dhimey, Dhaan, Khin, Bhusyaa, Sisyaa and Tinchhu. And to crown this beautiful journey, Pasa Puchah Guthi UK was awarded the Ambassador Cup! This is for the British Newahs from Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK.

This achievement is not just about a trophy. It is about how far we’ve come together as a community. It’s about every dancer who rehearsed in whatever time they could manage, every musicians who gave their all, every parent who encouraged their children, every volunteer who gave their time, and every well-wisher who cheered us on.

To our Newah community in the UK – this victory belongs to all of us. We have shown that when we come together, our culture thrives, our children feel proud, and our roots grow deeper in this land we now call home.

Let’s keep this spirit alive – more participation, more pride, and more stories to tell in the years to come. Together, we rise, we shine, and we carry our Newah heritage forward!
