Day 4076: Hotel California by The TaTa’z
The Singh Family band has officially undergone a rebranding and is now known as ‘The TaTa’z’ – meaning "elder sisters" in Nepal Bhasha.
The name’s origins? Well, it all started with Elliot lovingly calling Ojaswi ‘Oji TaTa.’ That caught on like wildfire, and now everyone in this weird family is a ‘TaTa’: Mummy TaTa, Daddy TaTa, Oneek TaTa, and of course, Oji TaTa. Why? Because logic left this house a long time ago.
So, Oji TaTa thought the band should be called The TaTa’z
This year, in the spirit of tradition (and chaos), we tried putting together a family performance to wish our loved ones a very Happy New Year. Wifey’s favorite ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles was the chosen anthem. The idea had been brewing for years, but this time, we actually practiced. By ‘practiced,’ I mean… ONCE and that was also while recording the video.
We took several takes, but there was always someone making a mistake. Spoiler alert: that “someone” was ‘usually me’. I had to unleash my motivational quotes arsenal to keep the kids and wifey from abandoning ship. Finally, we nailed the perfect take – flawless timing, no mistakes, the stuff of legends. Feeling triumphant, I went to check the camera… and discovered I had FORGOTTEN to press RECORD.
After a collective facepalm, we took a two-hour break and returned to finish the take hastily. This time, I gave up aiming for perfection and said, ‘This take is good enough.’ To which Oneek, in his infinite wisdom, replied: ‘Well, your timing wasn’t the best in the world, but you’re an old man, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.’
And that, my dear friends, sums up our ‘musical endeavor’. Not perfect, but packed with effort, laughs, and a touch of chaos – we hope to be forgiven for any mistakes, mainly mine.
As we wrap up 2024, this is an attempt to make the end of the year memorable and to keep creating memories. We hope this little attempt brings you joy, laughter, and warm wishes for the year ahead.

Day 4075: New Year’s Day Parade in London
For the first time in 25 years - to mark its silver jubilee- Pasa Puchah Guthi UK (PPGUK) will be participating in the London New Year’s Day parade. A strong team of 40 participants will represent PPGUK, contributing to a group of 100 participants from the Nepalese community.
Our energetic team featuring 25-30 talented Newah musicians will be showcasing the rich musical heritage of Nepal. The ensemble includes 9 playing the Dhimay, 6 playing the Dhaan, 2 playing the Khin, 4 playing the Bhusyaa, 4 playing the Sishyaa, and 2 playing the Tinchhu.
Please come experience the rhythm and energy of our performance as part of the parade on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, 1 January 2025.
The parade starts at 12:00 PM (Midday) from Piccadilly Circus to Abingdon Street-Millban.

Day 4061: 25 Years and Young!

Day 4047: Dhime Classes Update
Pasa Puchah Guthi UK has always been at the forefront of preserving and promoting Newah culture and heritage beyond the borders of Nepal. Over the years, we have successfully organized various training programs in Newah language, Newah scripts (both Ranjana and Prachalit Lipi), traditional dances, and Newah musical instruments in the UK.
After several years of teaching Newah instruments, particularly Dhime and Dhaan, in South-East London, we are proud to announce the successful commencement of Dhime classes in West London as well.
Currently, we have two batches of Dhime students who are making significant progress in mastering this traditional art form.
We warmly welcome more students to join us and take advantage of this unique opportunity. If you're interested, please register with a team member from PPGUK.

Day 4045: Bansuri Classes – Flute Classes
They say, "The flute is easy to play... you just have to blow perfectly and put your fingers in the exact right spots—no big deal!" And with that inspirational thought, Pasa Puchah Guthi UK launched its first-ever Bansuri (flute) class in London.
We have just had two tester classes., where students blew blew blew and blew and instead of melodies, the room was filled with the sound of… well, silence.
Some students tried different angles, blowing harder, softer, or even upside down (spoiler: that doesn’t work either).
However, rest assured, with practice, those silent flutes will soon be singing melodious tunes!
