Day 3809 : London Biska Jatra
Week 3 - Day 3
Bhadrakali Rath Rising!
What a wonderfully productive day it was! Today, we made significant progress in building the Bhadrakali rath, successfully completing the roof of the first tier. Compared to our initial attempt in 2022, this progress is remarkable, although it required meticulous planning and of course, the lessons learnt from our previous attempt was definitely, invaluable.
Sanjeev and I dedicated the past two weekends to this project, and today's involvement of Solar Tul, Sanyukta, Sujan, Nilesh and Rupesh added extra motivation. And also special observer Sushil and Manish made the day even more memorable.
We are on track to complete the rath by the deadline, but there is not denying that the remaining workload is still substantial. Our greatest motivation stems from the anticipation of showcasing our creation at the London Biska Jatra on Saturday, April 13, 2024, in front of over 1000 people - and to fly the flag of Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK!

London Biska Jatra 2024
Week 1 - Day 1
The 2nd London Biska Jatra is being organized by Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK this year. This biennial event celebrates the arrival of spring, positivity, and happiness as the weather in the UK warms up. This celebration coincides with the Biska Jatra of Bhaktapur, Nepal and the beginning of the Solar New year in April.
It’s a festival of Bhairava, a deity revered in both Hinduism and Buddhism. Bhairava is considered a powerful manifestation of Shiva in Hindu tradition and a fierce emanation of the bodhisattva Manjusri in Buddhism.
The London Biska Jatra is hosted by the South-East London branch of Pasa Pucha Guthi UK, with its president Shrestha Madhav serving as the coordinator under the supervision of PPGUK, BOT president Sushil Prajapati. The hosting branch constructs the Bhairava Rath, while the London branch supports with the Bhadrakali Rath. The Aldershot branch brings the Yosin dyo, and the Reading and Scotland branches support with welcoming guests and coordinating Dhime and Bhuchhey players.
As the date for this year’s celebration is being announced, the West London boys have already started building the rath of Bhadrakali. Although we couldn’t salvage all the bits from the rath we built last year, this year we are determined to build more scientifically and preserve the rath.
The journey begins now, and we are thrilled—are you?
