Day 2475: Ran for Nepal as Laakhe:

In past 20 years, I have taken various roles in PASA PUCHAH GUTHI, UK. However, this is the first time I have become the divine beast ‘Laakhe’ who I have admired since I was a kid. It probably is the first time that ‘Laakhe’ has competed a 5K run to promote Newah culture.

I feel immensely happy and proud that I have been able to invite everyone from Nuneaton, UK for Visit Nepal 2020 on Behalf of Pasa Puchah Guthi, UK and Visit Nepal 2020 – Youth Coordination Committee.

The Run was organized by Nepalese Community Nuneaton -NCN. Thank you very much for everyone involved, especially Vinod Shrestha

I share some of the picures by awesome Dhan Burathoki.

Day 2467: Challenging Government: Guthi Bill 2075

Pasa Puchah Guthi UK was established in 2000AD with the principles like those of Guthi in Kathmandu Valley, capital of Nepal. Pasa Puchah Guthi UK is a non-political/non-religious social organization to maintain sustainable promotion and preservation of Newah Culture in the UK. In nearly 2 decades, Pasa Puchah Guthi UK has been able establish 5 branches in the UK and is continuously working to establish other branches globally including in Nepal. Pasa Puchah Guthi aspires to buy lands and buildings for the sustainable operations of Guthi.

However, the new Guthi Bill 2075 that has been proposed jeopardizes all the aspiration of Guthi and brings concerns towards the formation of new Guthis that works selflessly towards preserving both tangible and intangible heritage of Kathmandu Valley. And this concerns PPGUK, immensely.

There are over 2000 public Guthis in Nepal and many Newah Guthis globally. These Guthis traditionally have locally appointed or elected trustees from within the Guthi Members. Guthi Bill 2075, if passed, will remove all the locally appointed trustees. Guthis will no longer be able to use their trusts as per their own regulation but will have to work as per the rules of the authority; this may be considered illegal because if the organization has not been initiated by government or supported by government during its initiation, government holds no right to take control of properties owned by them without consent.

Hence, we vehemently, oppose this bill because it puts a huge dent on the all the inspirational and motivational work that is being carried out globally for the preservation and promotion of Nepalese culture worldwide. It also creates a risk of demise of tangible and intangible heritage of Kathmandu Valley.

Furthermore, we condemn the act of violence by police on the peaceful protesters on 9 June 2019 and urges government of Nepal to give focus on the issues raised by the indigenous people of Kathmandu Valley.

Jai Newah!!!

Day 2459: Unfolding Scotland

Thursa, a small town in the North Coast of Scotland. So small that I could finish walking around the town and more within an hour. There were altogether 11 pubs, 2 Chinese restaurants/Takeaway and 2 Indian Restaurants, 2 kebab places, few other restaurants, 1 night club and 1 library. I’m certain I must have missed few. However, it felt like every house was hotel, B&B or hostel.

This is a quiet and pleasant town; original and authentic. There aren’t any designer shops nor the city centre replicates any other global brands of shop.

People here are warm and friendly. The environment is relaxed with blue sky even at 11.00PM.

I loved the authenticity of this place, friendlines of people and the freshness of the Environment

The local Scots name for this town is Thursa and the Scottish Gaelic is Inbhir Theòrsa. Inbhir means a river mouth ( ‘Inver’ in many anglicised names) Hence, Inbhir Theòrsa means ‘River Mouth of Theòrsa’.

Day 2448: Route North Coast 500

Day 1: The beautiful landscape of North Coast of Scotland is mesmerising. Lovely coast at one side and the acres and acres greenery on the other, the beauty of nature and nothingness. The exquisite combination of mountains and water is breathtaking to say the least.

Questions may be asked about how these beautiful landscapes are formed and there are lots of local stories, that have been told from thousands of years. I shall try and tell them one by one of as much as I can remember.

Inverness - Loch Carron- Applecross - Shieldaig - Torridon - Gariloch - Corrie Challock - Ullapool
